Telehealth at TrustPoint Hospital

What Is Telehealth?

Learn about the benefits of telehealth

Telehealth uses technology to connect individuals with health-related services. The definition of telehealth can include a wide range of services that are accessed via standard telephones, smartphones, computers, laptops, or other devices.

The many benefits of telehealth include expanded access, increased flexibility, and heightened safety. In most cases, individuals who take part in telehealth services can do so from their own homes. This eliminates the need for travel, promotes participation among those who have mobility challenges or other health concerns, and bridges geographical gaps.

TrustPoint Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, currently offers three types of telehealth services:

  • Telehealth assessments, which are also sometimes referred to as tele-assessments, virtual assessments, or video assessments
  • Telehealth programming, which may also be described as telehealth therapy or telehealth mental healthcare
  • Telehealth visitation, which is also known as televisitation or virtual visitation

When you participate in any telehealth solutions through TrustPoint Hospital, you can expect to benefit from the same unwavering commitment to quality that is reflected in all our programs and services.

Telehealth Assessments

Telehealth assessment process at TrustPoint Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN

The assessment process can be an essential step on a person’s path toward improved mental health. Assessments can help identify the type and level of care that’s right for you, and they can also provide valuable information for your treatment team as they prepare your personalized plan.
Our telehealth assessment, or tele-assessment, option allows you to take this important step from the safety and comfort of your own home.
Depending upon various factors, you may complete your tele-assessment over the phone or via an approved videoconferencing platform. In the latter case, the process may be referred to as a video assessment. Regardless of whether you use a standard telephone or a virtual communication service, the content of your telehealth assessment will remain the same.
You can start the process by contacting us at your convenience. A representative of TrustPoint Hospital is available to speak with you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Your telehealth assessment will consist of a conversation between you and an experienced professional. This individual will ask you some questions about why you’re seeking treatment, what types of symptoms you’ve been experiencing, and how these symptoms have impacted your life. You may also discuss your treatment history and other relevant matters. If you are seeking treatment for your child, you may answer these questions on their behalf.
It’s important to remember that tele-assessments are designed to be two-way conversations. You won’t only be providing information. You’ll also be able to ask questions of your own, and the professional with whom you are speaking will be happy to provide you with the answers you need.
At the end of your telehealth assessment, you’ll receive a recommendation for the program that best fits your needs or those of your loved one.
The TrustPoint Hospital tele-assessment service is provided free of charge, and taking part in this process does not obligate you to enter treatment at our hospital or with any other provider that may be recommended to you.

When you take part in IOP through our telehealth programming option, you will participate in groups via a HIPAA-compliant virtual communication platform. Topics that may be addressed in your telehealth therapy groups include stress management, healthy boundaries, communication skills, disease/disorder education, and an array of additional matters.

Telehealth Visitation

When adolescents or adults are in our inpatient program, we understand how important it can be for them to retain a connection with loved ones. When clinically appropriate, we encourage healthy communication between patients and their family members and close friends.

To support this effort, we are happy to now offer a televisitation service. Also sometimes referred to as telehealth visitation or virtual visitation, this service allows patients to keep in touch with their loved ones through networked technology.

During televisitation sessions, participants may use a computer, laptop, smartphone, or other video-capable, internet-connected device to see each other and speak with each other. If a friend or family member cannot travel to our hospital in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, due to distance, mobility limitations, health concerns, or any other reasons, they can still share their support with a loved one in our inpatient program via televisitation service.
