Murfreesboro’s Preferred Partial Hospitalization Program

TrustPoint Hospital offers a partial hospitalization program (PHP) for adults who are struggling with mental health concerns such as bipolar disorder, anxiety, and depression. Adults who participate in our PHP receive the evidence-based care they need to make significant progress with their symptoms and improve their quality of life.

Partial Hospitalization Program Overview

TrustPoint Hospital provides a partial hospitalization program (PHP) for adults age 18 and older of all genders on an outpatient basis. This program is designed to help those who can benefit from a structured treatment model while still residing at home or another residence when therapy is not in session.

Patients who enter our PHP must have a primary diagnosis of a mental health disorder. Some of the most common conditions we treat include bipolar disorder, anxiety, and depression.

Patients can enter our PHP directly, as a step-up from our intensive outpatient program (IOP), or as a step-down from a higher level of care, such as our inpatient programming.

Though the format of our PHP allows for a certain amount of structure in a safe and supportive environment, it also promotes independence. Patients can work through their symptoms while acquiring the skills and strategies to help ensure a smooth transition to lasting wellness.

Features & Services

TrustPoint Hospital’s partial hospitalization program (PHP) incorporates a variety of therapeutic activities and services that can be customized to give each patient a care experience that lines up with their unique needs.

We utilize the transtheoretical model, which provides strategies to guide a person toward positive behavioral changes. Within this, evidence-based techniques we may use include:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
  • Motivational interviewing

While attending our PHP, patients may receive medication management services and participate in individual, family, and group therapy sessions. Group therapy is the core of our PHP, and we offer trauma-informed, process, didactic, and psychoeducational options. Some of the topics we cover in these groups include:

  • Coping skills
  • Medication compliance
  • Conflict resolution
  • Stress management

Admissions Process

The last thing any person who is pursuing mental health treatment should have to deal with is a complicated admissions process. At TrustPoint Hospital, we streamline our procedures to make it as easy as possible for you to enter treatment when you decide that you’re ready.

We accept patients who are referred by a professional referral source, from the inpatient unit at TrustPoint Hospital, or from community and word-of-mouth referrals.

Once a referral is made, we will administer an outpatient assessment to determine your health and mental state so that we can ensure that our PHP will be the most beneficial level of care for your current needs.

Programming takes place for six hours a day, five days a week. Average length of stay in our PHP is two to three weeks, though that can vary depending on a patient’s individual needs, strengths, and goals.
