Adult Affective Disorders

When individuals are suffering from mental health concerns, the symptoms and effects that are experienced will differ greatly from one person to the next. As such, each individual must be afforded the opportunity to receive treatment that specifically addresses his or her needs and concerns so that true healing can be achieved. At TrustPoint Hospital, we are dedicated to providing the individualized care that each man or woman needs so that he or she can discover a renewed life of hope, happiness, confidence, and wellness.

When an individual is suffering from a mental health disorder, the symptoms that he or she experiences can often be severe enough to disturb his or her ability to continue functioning appropriately on a day-to-day basis. The turmoil, discord, and strife that can impact an individual’s life when he or she is dealing with a mental illness can be all-consuming. At TrustPoint Hospital, we understand the negative effects that can plague an individual’s life when mental illness is a factor, which is why we are dedicated to providing comprehensive acute care that allows the healing process to begin.

In order to ensure that every patient who receives care at TrustPoint Hospital does so in an environment that provides a sense of comfort and encouragement that is fully conducive to meeting his or her needs, we offer behavioral healthcare services on three separate units. During the admissions process, a thorough assessment will be completed which will provide the information necessary for determining which unit will most appropriately help the person seeking care.

Men and women between the ages of 18 and 65 who are suffering from mental health concerns, including mood disorders, and other co-occurring conditions can benefit from receiving care in TrustPoint Hospital’s adult affective disorders unit. Examples of the conditions that are frequently treated in this unit include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Depressive disorders
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Bipolar disorders
  • Co-occurring substance use disorders

When individuals are in need of immediate care, the treatment provided in the adult affective disorders unit can help them to stabilize and learn to successfully manage their symptoms in the future. The typical length of stay in this program is between seven and 10 days, yet the specific timeframe in which an individual will remain in our care will be based solely on his or her needs and treatment progress. During a patient’s time in the adult affective disorders unit, he or she will have the opportunity to engage in the following interventions as part of his or her individualized treatment plan:

  • Medication management services
  • Individual therapy
  • Group therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Experiential therapies

Furthermore, because treatment at TrustPoint Hospital is designed to address acute circumstances, thorough discharge planning is also emphasized so that individuals can successfully continue to benefit from the gains they made in treatment as they move forward.

Individuals may be admitted into the adult affective disorders unit 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In order to allow for this immediate access, TrustPoint’s dedicated and knowledgeable Access Intake Team is readily available to help assist with the admissions process.
